Dear Paula,
I’m getting in touch on behalf of the Prime Minister’s Office, as part of the Government’s Volunteering team in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, which works to recognise the enormous value of volunteers and civil society organisations across the country.
You may not be aware, but every day the Prime Minister awards an outstanding volunteer for their inspirational service as a ‘Point of Light’, as part of a cross-party programme to highlight the contributions of individuals making changes in their communities, just as you have been doing in your fantastic work with UMT Upcycling and Mobility Training.
I am delighted to let you know that the Prime Minister would like to recognise you both as the UK’s 1625th Points of Light, and as the daily award winners for Thursday 18th March. Many congratulations!
I would be very happy to talk through further with you what the award means, but in essence, the Prime Minister would like to write to you, personally thanking you for your work. You will also receive a certificate, and an announcement about your award will be published on the Points of Light website, as well as being shared on social media by Cabinet Office.
If you are able to send through to me the following ahead of next Monday, I would be very grateful:
A photograph of yourself that you are happy to be used on the website (high resolution, landscape, and one you have permission to share).
A couple of lines on your response to receiving the award.
Confirmation of your address (so that your letter and certificate can reach you in the post).
Again, I realise this may have come rather out of the blue so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries – you can reach me on 07785 382640, or simply over this email.
Many congratulations again to you both on becoming Points of Light,
With best wishes,
Fiona
